Kelly Chewning
Community Impact Coordinator
In addition to working for Capacity, Kelly is the Associate Pastor at Wheatland Mission Church in Wichita, KS. She earned her bachelors in Religion and Philosophy and Christian Spiritual Formation from Friends University and her masters in Ministry, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation from Tabor College. She lives in Wichita with her husband, Greg, their daughter, Amara, and their dogs, Zoe and Refrito. In her free time she likes to be outside, read, create, and care for her bees.
What Kelly loves about Capacity: the aspect of Spiritual Formation, “I love that Capacity helps others grow to be more like Christ.”
The most fascinating thing about Jesus: “I find it fascinating that Jesus is such a rebel. His Kingdom is one where rest is valued over busyness, beauty saves the world, and Love is ruler of all.”
Stan Harstine
Board Chair
Stan is a religion professor at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. He teaches courses on the Bible and spiritual formation, and is particularly interested in examining the ways followers of Jesus interpret and apply Scripture in their faith adventure.
During summer breaks, Stan likes to do some experimental gardening, invent barbecue recipes, and travel to Saltzburg, Austria, a picturesque city that looks like a page in a storybook. Stan and his wife, Deb, have three sons, three daughters-in-law, and two grandsons.
Why Stan loves Capacity: "Capacity Ministries invites others to join in the story God is writing in this world through the lives of those who are willing to trust Him more fully."
The most fascinating thing about Jesus: "He is too complex to ever fully understand."
Favorite Bible verse: "If the spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will bring life to your dead bodies through his spirit who dwells in you." (Romans 8:11)
Leslie Bounous
Board Member
Leslie’s day job (and often night job!) is leading Young Life in Wichita Public Schools. She loves walking the hallways at East, South or Robinson, and coming alongside our teachers, leaders and staff as they serve students and families in Wichita. You can find Leslie on most weekends tackling a fun project at her house or going for a long run at the river.
When she has a long weekend or break, she loves traveling, especially when it involves seeing something new! Something that most people don’t know about Leslie is if she was stuck with one food style, she would pick Chinese (she lived there for two years!) and climbing Machu Picchu is on her bucket list. The most beautiful place she’s ever visited was Phuket, Thailand (the ocean was incredible). Leslie loves black coffee, waterskiing, and fresh flowers (any kind, but partial to tulips).
Why Leslie loves Capacity: it brings together a wide array of facilitators, from a wide variety of church traditions. It widens her view and love of Jesus and His church.
The most fascinating thing about Jesus: “This one is hard… there are too many… but, I’d say this picture of abiding in HIs love. I don’t think we ever move on from that.”

Why Trevor loves Capacity: "Mike's passion and vision."
The most fascinating thing about Jesus: "How revolutionary and countercultural he was, and still is."
Andrew Spare

Why Andrew loves Capacity: “Capacity’s work of shoring up the foundations and disciplines of the Christian faith in the local community.”
The most fascinating thing about Jesus: “That he would know me fully, and still choose to die for me.”
